The Power Of Believing

I recently had the pleasure to watch the movie Kung Fu Panda again on DVD at home and I noticed something interesting that resonated with me. It’s The Power Of Believing. Below are some dialogues from the movie:

Mr. Ping: We are noodle folk. Broth runs through our veins.
Mr. Ping: The secret ingredient is… nothing!
Po: Huh?
Mr. Ping: You heard me. Nothing! There is no secret ingredient.
Po: Wait, wait… it’s just plain old noodle soup? You don’t add some kind of special sauce or something?
Mr. Ping: Don’t have to. To make something special you just have to believe it’s special.
Po: There is no secret ingredient…

I remember on two separate occasions where I cooked the exact same Spaghetti Bolognese(I’m addicted to Barilla, remember?). Once I was very happy with myself and enjoying friends’ company and the other time I was in a place with some “not so nice” people. When I was with those “not so nice” people I didn’t believe that they would like my cooking but I still did my best to cook. The result?? I was darn right!! They didn’t think it was that great and blah blah….(they’re not so nice, you know?) The Funny thing was that even I thought something was missing too when I tasted it but I was darn sure I cooked everything the right way as it must have been the 1000th time that I cooked Spaghetti Bolognese(no kidding!!)…….But the time when I was with good friends enjoying their company and laughter they all commented that it tasted great, and the evidence to prove it was that there was no left over.

Now thinking of those two times cooking the same dish I’m pretty sure that it had something to do with my believes and also the energy/vibration that I put in when I was cooking which resulted different taste.  It’s quite amazing to have discovered that your believes can affect many different areas of life such as cooking!!

Has anyone had similar experience with cooking or other daily routines through The Power Of Believing?? Feel free to leave a comment and share any experience  and insight you might have.

Enjoy life,

Huddson

Huddson,

I’ve got to hand it to you. As much as I enjoy good food and cooking, I can’t envision putting myself in a position like that. Cooking for a group of not so nice people!

I come away from the description of your experience that some of their negativity, momentarily rubbed off on you. By that, I don’t mean that you became negative but, as you said, you have made that dish 1000 times. So, I’m certain your dish was just fine. On the other hand, their rejection of your dish convinced you that it was indeed, not good.

We all know people that, no matter what we do to please them, we will never be right by them. In the final analysis, Believe in yourself and search out those individuals that appreciate you for what you are.

That’s my 2 cents, for what it’s worth!

Huddson,

Funny this thing call a ‘Secret’, often about how people do things, because sometimes others think they’re lucky.

My son came home yesterday and said he no longer believes in luck… That’s pretty funny I said, because luck and secrets are really what anyone can generate as long as they’re willing to work.

Essentially, the harder you work the more luck and secrets other people think you have.

Anyways, not really a cooking story. But I got to tell you my wife is the greatest cook in the world. hands down.

Speak soon,

Hey Huddson

Not a cooking story but definitely one about belief. I find that if I think that I will find a parking place where I want it, I usually do. If I think there is no way that I will find one, I usually don’t.

Cheers Kerie :-D

Great story Huddson. we all need to have our “secret” ingredients” in life. Also makes things more interesting.

Hey Hudson,

wonderful story, and Kerie, you too have the power to manifest car parks! Personally I found something quite delightful out a wee while ago, the more expensive you think the wine is, the better it tastes, try it ;-)
